An Undergraduate from a Nigerian University has committed suicide after being scammed N300 million by a forex trader.
According to report gathered, the 300-level students of the Department of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Gbenga Favour Olaoye-Akanbi committed suicide after he was scammed by Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel (ESG) who is a forex trader.
Sahara reporter also said that Olaoye Akanbi was found dead on Sunday after drinking a poisonous substance.
A friend of the deceased who is also an investor narrated how they were scammed:
We learnt that the investment is Forex and the man’s name is Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel.
They started the investment business this year but after some while, the man abruptly stopped trading.
He converted the investment to a Ponzi scheme without their consent.
He actually owned a Whatsapp group where people collected money from other people to invest in his business.
The late Gbenga also gathered money by collecting from her friends to invest with ESG at a particular percentage.
After some weeks, the investment crashed and the guy got arrested but with the help of some police officers, he was later set free.
But the demise who had collected money from her friends to invest with the guy got himself into serious trouble as people started dragging him for their money.
However, the pressure was so much for him to the extent that he had to commit suicide.
Although one of his course mates had assured the demise that the investment business is not a Ponzi scheme business that double money for a short period of time.
