ASUU: Federal Government Reveals When Union Agreed To Call off Strike

The Federal Government has said that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) agreed to call off the over 9-month old strike before Wednesday, December 9.

In a statement revealed by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige said the Government gave the Union good offers to call off the strike.

This was said a few days after ASUU National President said that the government has failed to deliver the offered they had agreed on.

Mr Ogunyemi claimed that they will only return to work once their unpaid arrears have been cleared.

On the other hand, Chris Ngige revealed that according to ASUU National President, the 9-month-old strike will be called off before December 9, 2020.

Remember that Federal Government had claimed that N40b earned allowances have been disbursed together with N30bn revitalisation funds making a total of N70bn.

It was revealed that University lecturers were paid their salaries for the month of February and March before the extension was officially made to the months of April, May and June when the strike was on.
