The National Identity Management Commission has said that Nigerians with National Identification Number (NIN) will pay money if they want to rectify some changes having to do with their personal information or get another NIN card.According to what we gathered from Madam Funmi Opesanwo who is the regional coordinator for the commission, the money they will collect will take care of the modification fee and processing fee services.
She also explained that the commission has many agencies that will collect the money for services such as correction of name, address or name or perhaps if the holder wants to replace or renew his or card, the commission will still charge.
However, the commission assures people that it is free to register provided you haven’t gotten any NIN before.
For holders that want to do correction of their date of birth, the processing fee is N15,000 only.
For holders that want to do correction of name or address, the processing fee is just N500 only.
Any holder that want to get a replacement or renewal of NIN, the processing fee is N5,000
Reacting to what people said about the commission charging them, Madam Opesanwo said some people are just misunderstanding them and the money is actually meant for those specific services.
