Federal Government has announced January 19 as the deadline for Nigerians who already have National Identification Number (NIN) to link their SIM with it.

For mobile subscribers who have not registered for National Identification Number, the deadline to update their SIM with National Identification Number (NIN) is February 9.

As the deadline is fast approaching, see ways to know if you have successfully linked your NIN to your SIM.

To know if you have linked your National Identification Number to your MTN line

For MTN Users, kindly dial *785#

After dialling the USSD code, it will be prompted to enter your NIN.

Once you have finished entering your 11 digit number (NIN), an SMS will be sent to you, saying “Successfully” received your National Identification Number.

Note that it’s the National Identity Management Commission that will verify the National Identification Number that you submitted to your network.

To know if you have linked your National Identification Number to your Glo line

For Glo users, You dial *109# and you will be asked to input your 11 digit NIN number and after that, a message will be sent to your saying “Successful”.

Alternatively, You can also update your NIN via text message to 109 and they will reply you back whether the submission is successful or not.

In case you are not sure, you are free to try this process more than one time.

To know if you have linked your NIN to your 9mobile line

Kindly dial *200*8#

It will bring two options saying whether you want to verify your National Identification Number to your 9mobile SIM or you just want to link it.

Press 1 and send to verify.

After some times, you will get a message showing whether the linking is successful or not.

To know if you have linked your National Identification Number to your Airtel line

To link your Airtel line to your NIN, dial *121*1#.

A successful message will be sent to your line after entering your 11 digits NIN.

If you don’t get this message, it’s possible to retry it until you see the message showing that you have successfully submitted your National Identification Number to update your Airtel SIM.

According to what we heard, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) will be the one to verify all the updates and your network provider will later send you a message once the update has been completed.
