The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has disclosed that he has tested positive for Coronavirus after briefing the press this afternoon.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

This comes a week after he was slammed via social media for organising a rally with a popular artiste, Davido performing.

From the record, He becomes the third Nigerian governor to test positive for the virus after Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.

“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate
,” Makinde tweeted on Monday evening.

“I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he added.
